Agency Workers Regulations
On the 1st of October the Agency Workers Regulations came in to effect. This gives nurses and health care assistants working through agencies the same access to certain facilities as full time members of staff working in hospitals.
Nursing Personnel are giving agency nurses and healthcare assistants an opportunity to give us your feedback and comments as to your experience form the first the 1st October 2011 re access to facilities in hospitals.
Nursing Personnel are working with Trusts to communicate to agency staff what facilities are available and how to access them.

This is great news. I have been working with your nursing agency for a year now. I stayed in hospital accommodations as facilitated by your staff. However, I have always encountered problems with parking space. As agency nurse, I am told by the hospital staff that I can only use public car park spaces. With this new regulation, will I get car parking in the hospital?

With the AWR now in place agency nurses or agency healthcare assistants will not necessarily be guaranteed car parking in hospitals.
Agency nurses and healthcare assistants will be entitled to go through the same process for using parking as full time employees. If car parking is free or subsidised than agency nurses will be entitled to the same benefit. Where there is a waiting list for parking then agency staff can apply through the normal channels for access to the parking from the 1st of October 2011.
Hello there
Thank you. A lady friend of mine is also interested in joining your nursing agency. She asked if she can also use the crèche or nursery facilities of NHS hospitals for her 2 year old son. Are agency nursing staffs also entitled to this benefit?
Thanks
Ollie
Hi Ollie and thanks for your comments. As a national Nursing Agency, Nursing Personnel are always recruiting agency nurses so we would be delighted to have your friend working through us. Re the creche facilities your friend would be entitled to use facilities if they are available to full time members of staff within a hospital. Your friend may find there will be a waiting list but he/she can apply to use the facilities and should be treated in the same manner as that of a full time member of staff. I hope this answers your question.
