£1.5 bn NHS Proposed Savings

£ 1.5 bn NHS Proposed Savings

Shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley believes a third could be shaved off the annual cost of quangos and NHS management in England. He believes bureaucracy has gone out of control.

Running costs for PCTs have risen from £1.43bn to £2.14bn in the past four years. One main area where savings will be made is in the cutting back of management consultants.

Other budgets that will be under the spot light include the £200 million cost of running the Dept of Health as well as the £ 100 million spent on the 10 strategic health authorities that oversee care on a regional basis.

Mr Lansley will say over the course of four years the £ 4.5bn bill in this area could be cut to £ 3.00bn.

NHS Nursing Jobs Update

28 September 2009 by Administrator

Health Secretary Andy Burnham has stated the NHS will have to save £20 billion in coming years. This could lead to patients being discharged early and operations delayed.

Substantive doctors and nurses could also face pay freezes. Foundation hospitals that manage their own budgets have been told they have not managed their own finances well enough to cope with the recession

Nigel Edwards policy director of the NHS confederation has stated " this is unchartered territory and we are exploring ways of dealing with it".

Nursing Personnel see the reliance on temporary and agency staff nurses being increased as government cuts will eventually hit the NHS. Agency nurses and locum doctors are a more cost effective way of staffing in times when budget and costs are under the spotlight.

Nursing Personnel's pricing structure ensures value for money to the NHS and taxpayer while paying agency staff nurses and locum doctors enough to ensure we have a sustainable pool of quality staff available to meet NHS requirements. Nursing Personnel as a result have an abundance of nurse jobs across the UK and are constantly recruiting nurses and health care workers for our expanding list of clients.

Nursing Personnel are paying staff nurses a minimum of £20 per hour for general ward work in any NHS Hospital. If you are a staff nurse or qualified RGN with more than six months post qualification experience and want to earn £ 3,200 per month minimum you need to be registered with Nursing Personnel as we are paying some of the most completive rates of pay in the market. Swine flu extra 4000 beds

14 September 2009 by Administrator

The NHS has announced in its Critical Care Strategy for the flu pandemic. This has resulted in the NHS doubling the number of critical care beds to more than 4000. Health officials admit that they will struggle to double the number of beds for children.

Nursing Personnel as a result have increased our recruitment campaign for staff nurses and registered general nurses as we anticipated the number of temporary nursing jobs through nursing agencies to dramatically increase this winter.

Nursing Personnel are advising any nurses that are thinking of considering registering with a nursing agency to do so early and secure an interview and get the processing started. Nursing Personnel have already seen an increase in demand from NHS hospitals, and are stepping up recruitment accordingly.

Staff nurses working through Nursing Personnel have access to an abundance of NHS agency nurse jobs throughout the UK and some of the most competitive pay rates in the country. Nursing Personnel are recruiting staff nurses in all specialities especially in A&E, Theatre, and Paediatrics.

Private Firms Reform NHS

08 September 2009 by Administrator

Alister Darling today indicated a major change in public services to include more use of private firms.

He has indicated in his speech in Cardiff that the NHS will be one of the major sectors targeted.

This approach by government will indicate that nursing agencies will be a major player in providing the NHS with staff nurses, and nursing agency jobs will increase in the future. Nursing Personnel are confident that the use of agency nurses and temporary nursing agency jobs in the NHs will increase for the foreseeable future.

PaSA's Response Closure

16 June 2009 by Administrator

NHS PaSA Update

David Lane the new PaSA lead has told recruiter that the NHS PaSA functions will be transferred to other areas across the public sector procurement landscape to ensure better value and improved synergy's are achieved. Davis Lane has also said there will be no change in the existing framework agreement policy. It is also expected that there will be no reason that compliance and quality standards will be eroded.

Nursing Personnel hopes this will be the case to ensure Nursing Agencies do have to meet the high standards in supplying nursing and health care staff to the NHS. It has taken a long time and a great deal of hard work to ensure non framework agencies are not used by NHS Hospitals and it would be a shame to go back to the days of a free for all.

Nursing Personnel will continue to work with the NHS in recruiting quality nursing and health care staff that meet and comply with the PaSA requirements.

NHS PaSA to be replaced

12 May 2009 by Administrator

NHS PaSA to be replaced

According to recruitment sources the NHS PaSA ( Purchasing and Supply Agency) is to be replaced by a new Department of Health commercial office. This is should come into place next year. PaSA's functions are anticipated to be replaced by NHS Regional Support Units that will run on a more commercial footing.

This is new approach hopefully will allow agencies to operate without as much red tape. This should speed up the recruitment process for nurses seeking jobs and allow agencies operate more efficiently.

Nursing Personnel will keep all nurses and health care workers updated on these nursing PaSA developments.
